Hartalika Teej Puja Vidhi, Hartalika teej puja at home: Hartalika Teej is known by this name because there is a mythological story associated with it. The word Hartalika is made up of "Harat" and "Aalika" which mean "abduction" and "female friend or friend" respectively. Hartalika means - kidnapping by a friend.

Hartalika Teej Puja material / Hartalika teej samagri

  1. Wet black soil or sand, betel nut, 5 betel leaves, 
  2. Belpatra, Shami Patra, banana leaf, fruit and flower of Dhatura, Ank flower, Manjri, Dube (new fresh grass), 
  3. Janeu, Naada, cloth, Akshat (whole rice), Roli, 
  4. five types of fruits and flowers, leaves, Shriphal, sweets and dry fruits, Kalash, Abir, turmeric, sandalwood, ghee-oil, camphor, kumkum, lamp, Phulhara, 16 leaves of special type, Suhag Pitara

 

Hartalika Teej Rituals

  1. For the worship of this fast, first spread a red cloth and then place an idol or photo of Lord Shiva on it. 
  2. Also keep a plate for the Abhishek of the Lord. 
  3. After this, make Ashta Kamal with white rice and place the lamp Kalash on it. 
  4. Now make a swastika on the Kalash and fill the Kalash with water and put betel nut, coin and turmeric in it. 
  5. Then place 5 betel leaves on the Kalash and also place a bowl full of rice and a lamp on top of the Kalash.
  6. Now place Akshat (whole rice) on the betel leaf and place Gauri ji and Ganesh ji on it. 
  7. After this you can start the puja. Now offer dube, rice and roli and apply tilak of lamp kalash to all the gods.

After doing this, start the puja with Shodapchar method

 

Hartalika teej procedure

  1. First of all, fold your hands and say that O Lord, you must come to our worship. 
  2. Make God sit on the seat and offer flowers and water as well. 
  3. Then chant the mantra with water in your hand and offer the water at the feet of God.
  4. Read the mantra three times and do achamana, then wash your hands. 
  5. Now fill water in a plate and bathe Lord Shiva, then wipe him with a clean cloth and adorn Him.
  6. Wear Mauli in the form of clothes and garland, sacred thread, garland, turban etc.
  7. Then sprinkle perfume and offer sandalwood, incense, flowers, lamps, fruits, sweets and nuts on betel leaves etc. 
  8. Offer Shamipatri, Belpatra, 16 types of leaves etc. 
  9. Then listen or read the story of Hartalika Teej fast. Finally do aarti. In this way this puja will be completed.

What to do in hartalika teej?

  • Women should keep fast on the day of Haritalika Teej. Goddess Parvati is worshiped along with Lord Shiva on Haritalika Teej. 
  • Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva should be worshiped in the morning, afternoon and evening.

 

Hartalika teej preparation

  • Women wake up early in the morning and wash their head. Taking a bath in the evening and worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is also one of the rituals of Haritalika Teej. 
  • During the puja, a sari is offered to Goddess Parvati along with all the things offered to married women like kajal, mehndi, kumkum, turmeric, flowers, etc. 
  • Dhoti and uttaraam are offered to Lord Shiva. After doing all the above work, Haritalika Teej Vrat Katha is read or heard.

What to do on Hartalika Teej at home?

  • On the day of Haritalika Teej, women wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath, which means purifying their soul.
  • After this, they dress up in special attire (mostly sarees) and jewellery and visit temples on Haritalika Teej. 
  • On this day, women observe a Nirjala fast (even water is not consumed during this fast). It is also known as Haritalika Teej Vrat. 
  • After performing puja at the temple, women return home and touch their husband's feet (in India, husbands are considered equal to God for women). 
  • Before sunset, women bathe once again and dress up like newlywed brides. 
  • Then, the puja begins again. Idols of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva made of sand and clay are placed at the puja site. 
  • Bilva leaves, flowers, incense sticks are offered to the deities. 
  • This is followed by meditation in honour of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. 
  • Finally, Haritalika Teej Vrat is recited by devotees. Haritalika Teej Vrat ends the next day morning after completing all the puja rituals.
