Diwali Pujan Items | Diwali puja samagri
- Kalava, Roli, Sindoor, Coconut, Akshat (Rice), Red Cloth, Flowers, 5 Betel Nuts, Cloves
- Betel Leaves, Kalash, Mango Leaves for Kalash, Chowki, Samiddha, Havan Kund, Havan Samagri
- Ghee, Kamal Gatte, Panchamrit (Milk, Curd, Ghee, Honey, Gangajal)
- Fruits, Batasha, Sweets, Seat for Sitting in Puja
- Turmeric, Agarbatti, Kumkum, Perfume, Deepak, Cotton, Aarti Thali, Kusha, Sandalwood.
Preparations for Diwali Puja
- Before starting Lakshmi Puja on Diwali, make Rangoli at the place where Ganesha and Lakshmi are seated.
- Light one lamp at each corner of the pedestal on which you are performing the Puja.
- After this, place raw rice at the place where the idol is to be placed and then place the idols of Ganesha and Lakshmi.
- Place Maa Lakshmi Ji on the right side of Ganesha Ji. Place two big lamps in front of them, fill one with oil and the other with ghee.
- Kubera, Saraswati and Kali Mata are also worshipped on the occasion of Diwali Puja. If you have their idols, then place them at the place of worship as well.
Laxmi puja vidhi | Lakshmi pooja method
Now lets understand Maa Lakshmi puja rituals.
- Before starting Lakshmi worship on Diwali, clean the place where Ganesha and Lakshmi are seated.
- Make Rangoli there and sprinkle Ganga water and chant this mantra
ॐ अपवित्र: पवित्रो वा सर्वावस्थां गतोपि वा।
य: स्मरेत् पुण्डरीकाक्षं स: बाह्याभ्यतंरं शुचि:।।
- Spread a red cloth on a wooden stool and meditate on Goddess Lakshmi and place the idols on the stool with respect and reverence.
- Now you have to do achamana. For this, take water in your right hand and do achamana three times and say
Om Keshavaya Namah
ॐ केशवाय नमः।
Om Narayanay Namah.
ॐ नारायणाय नमः।
Om Madhavaya Namah
ॐ माधवाय नमः।
Om Govindaya Namah
ॐ गोविन्दाय नमः।
Hastam prakshalayami.
हस्तं प्रक्षालयामि।
Wash your hands after reciting the mantra mentioned above. Only after this should you light the lamp. While lighting the lamp, say,
Deep Jyoti Mahadevi Shubham Bhavatu Me Sada
दीप ज्योति महादेवि शुभं भवतु मे सदा
- Then invoke Goddess Lakshmi. For this, sit in the invocation posture and say, 'O Mahadevi Lakshmi, I invoke you. Please accept my call and come.'
- Take five flowers in your hand and offer them and pray to the Goddess.
Shri Lakshmayai Devyaai Panch Pushpani Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्म्यै देव्यै पंच पुष्पाणि समर्पयामि
Say this and request her to take a seat. After this, welcome Goddess Lakshmi by saying this
Sri Lakshmi Devi Swagatam
श्री लक्ष्मी देवि स्वागतम्
After the welcome, for washing the feet of Mother, offer water at her feet while saying
Sri Lakshmidevyai Padyam Samarpayami
श्रीलक्ष्मीदेव्यै पाद्यं समर्पयामि
Then for the anointment of her head, offer Arghya by saying
Sri Lakshmi Devyai Arghya Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै अर्घ्य समर्पयामि
After the anointment of the head, she is given a bath. For this, saying
Sri Lakshmi devyai Jalam Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै जलं समर्पयामि
Make her take a bath with water mixed with Ganga Jal.
In the next step, she is given a Panchamrit bath. Its mantra is,
Sri Lakshmi devyai Panchamrit Snanam Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै पंचामृत स्नानं समर्पयामि
Then saying below do Gandha bath.
Sri Lakshmidevyai Gandham Samarpayami

After this, the person is given a bath with pure water. For a water bath, say
Sri Lakshmidevyai Shuddhodhaka Snanam Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै शुद्धोदक स्नानं समर्पयामि
Then clothes are offered to Goddess Lakshmi. Take a piece of mauli and offer it to Goddess Lakshmi, saying
Sri Lakshmi devyai Vastram Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै वस्त्रं समर्पयामि
Now it is the turn to offer Madhu Park. For offering Madhu Park, i.e. a mixture of milk and honey, say
Sri Lakshmi devyai Madhupark Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै मधुपर्क समर्पयामि
After Madhu Park, ornaments are offered to Goddess Lakshmi. For this, say

After the jewellery, offer Rakt Chandan or red sandalwood to the Goddess. For this, say,

After this, offer sindoor to the Goddess. Offer sindoor to her by saying

Now there will be Shodashopachar Puja.
Under this, 16 types of different items are offered at the feet of Goddess Lakshmi.
The process for this is also the same as before. While reciting the mantra, offer each item to the Goddess.
First of all, if dedicated Gulal is offered at the feet of Mother Goddess. Its mantra is,
Sri Lakshmi devaya Abirgulalam Samarpayami
श्रीलक्ष्मीदेव्यै अबीरगुलालं समर्पयामि
For fragrant liquid it is said,
Sri Lakshmi devai Sugandhitatailam Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै सुगंधिततैलं समर्पयामि
After the scented oil, offer Akshat to the Mother Goddess. For this one should say,
Shri Lakshmi devai Akshatam Samarpayami
श्री लक्ष्मी देव्यै अक्षतं समर्पयामि
Then sandalwood is offered. Offer sandalwood while saying

After sandalwood, offer flowers at his feet saying

Lakshmi Anga pooja
After offering flowers, all the parts of the idol of Maa Lakshmi are worshipped. For this, take rice and flowers in your left hand and keep dropping them in front of the idol of Maa Lakshmi with your right hand.
