Hariyali Teej is one of the popular festivals among the married women of North India. Hariyali Teej is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Shravan.
It is also known as Shravani Teej, Haritalika Teej, Sindhara Teej and Chhoti Teej. Hariyali Teej is celebrated two days after Hariyali Amavasya.
In Shreeji Temple of Nathdwara, Hariyali Teej is dedicated to Param Pujya Shri Radharani and is named Thakurani Teej. Thakurani Teej has special importance in Rajputana royal families of Rajasthan, it is also called Chhoti Teej.
It is mainly a festival of women. Due to rainy season in India at this time, nature spreads a sheet of greenery all around, and seeing this beauty of nature, the mind dances with joy. On Hariyali Teej, married women go to their maternal home/peace wearing new clothes and jewellery. Women dressed in traditional attire and fully adorned enjoy the swings in groups while singing folk songs.
