Navdurga, meaning 'Nine Durga,' represents the nine distinct manifestations of the goddess Durga. This concept finds its origins in Goddess Parvati and symbolizes different phases of her life.

प्रथमं शैलपुत्री, च द्वितीयं ब्रह्मचारिणी।
तृतीयं चन्द्रघंटेति, कूष्माण्डेति चतुर्थकम् ।।
पंचमं स्क्न्दमातेति, षष्ठं कात्यायनीति च ।
सप्तमं कालरात्रीति, महागौरीति चाष्टमम् ।।
नवमं सिद्धिदात्री, च नवदुर्गाः प्रकीर्तिताः ।
Prathmam Shailputri, Cha Dwitiyam Brahmacharini ।
Triteeyam Chandraghanteti, Kushmandeti Chaturthakam ।।
Panchamam Skandmateti, Shashtham Kaatyayneeti cha ।
Saptamam Kaalratriti, Mahagauriti Chaastamam ।।
Navamam Sidhhidaatri, cha Navdurgaah Prakeertitaah ।
Meaning: First is Shailaputri, second is Brahmacharini. Third is Chandraghanta, and fourth is Kushmanda. Fifth is Skandamata, and sixth is Katyayani. Seventh is Kalratri, and eighth is Mahagauri. Ninth is Siddhidatri, and these are the nine forms of Durga renowned.
These Navdurga forms are worshipped during all four Navratri festivals celebrated throughout the year.
