Harchat or Hal Chhath festival is celebrated two days before Janmashtami. According to the Hindu calendar, Har Chhath festival is celebrated on the Shashthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhado or Bhadrapada month.
It is known as Baldev Chhath, Lalahi Chhath, Randhan Chhath, Teen Chhath and Chandan Chhath. It is believed that Lord Krishna's elder brother Balram was born on this day.
Lord Krishna is also worshipped along with Balram on this day. It is believed that by the virtue of this fast, children get a long life.

- गाय का दूध और दही भी नहीं खाना चाहिए
- महिलाएं केवल भैंस का दूध, दही या घी का ही इस्तेमाल कर सकती हैं
What we can eat in Harchat Vrat?
- In every Chhath fast, it is forbidden to eat any food or fruit sown or ploughed by a plough.
- Cow's milk and curd should also not be consumed. Women can use only buffalo milk, curd or ghee.
