Significance of Pitru Paksha 2024

Pitru Paksha holds immense importance in the Hindu faith. It is also renowned as Shraddh Paksha. These days are dedicated to the veneration of ancestors and forefathers, with people offering prayers to their deceased family members.

In honor of their forebears, individuals provide food and clothing to Brahmins.

It is believed that during Shraddh Paksha, ancestors visit the earthly realm, receiving everything that their families offer in their name.

These days are considered highly auspicious for performing rituals such as Pitru Tarpan, Pind Daan, and Shraddh. Families invite Brahmins to their homes and offer them pure and virtuous food, clothing, and dakshin (monetary offerings). At the conclusion of these rituals, they touch the feet of the Brahmins to seek their blessings, as it is believed that their forefathers receive these offerings through the Brahmins.
