Jhulan Yatra is one of the most important festivals for the followers of Lord Shri Krishna which is celebrated in the month of Shravan. This festival falls in the period of July-August. 

It is the biggest and most popular religious occasion of the Vaishnavites. 

Known for decorated swings, spectacular display of song and dance, Jhulan is a joyous festival celebrating the love of Radha Krishna combined with excitement during the rainy season in India.

Main Place of Celebration:

Among all the places in India, Mathura, Vrindavan, Puri, Mayapur are most famous for Jhulan Yatra celebrations.

Jhulan Yatra is celebrated in the month of Shravan (August), from the eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha (Ekadashi) to the full moon day (Purnima), called Shravan Purnima, which usually coincides with the Raksha Bandhan festival. 

Thousands of Krishna devotees come from all over the world to the holy city of Mathura, Vrindavan, Puri in Odisha and Mayapur in West Bengal. 

The idols of Radha and Krishna are taken out from the altar and placed on heavily decorated swings, which are sometimes made of gold and silver. All the devotees swing the swings and get immersed in the love of the Lord.

Sri Rupa-Sanatan Gaudiya Math, Banke Bihari Temple and Radha-Raman Temple of Vrindavan, Dwarkadhish Temple of Mathura, Gaudiya Math of Jagannath Puri, ISKCON Temple, Govardhan Peeth, Sri Radha Kant Math, Sri Jagannath Ballava Math and ISKCON Temple of Mayapur are some of the prominent places where this festival is celebrated with their greatest grandeur.
