According to industry estimates cited by the news agency IANS, the average spending per visitor could increase to Rs 10,000, which may push the total economic impact to Rs 4 lakh crore. The event is expected to enhance both the nominal and real GDP of the state by more than 1%.
Previous Success: Ardh Kumbh Mela 2019
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the success of the Ardh Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj in 2019, which contributed Rs 1.2 lakh crore to the state's economy and attracted around 24 crore pilgrims. With the Maha Kumbh 2025 expected to draw in 40 crore devotees, the economic boost is projected to be even more substantial.

Food and Beverage Industry
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) estimates that the food and beverage sector, including packaged foods, water, biscuits, juices, and meals, could contribute Rs 20,000 crore to the overall trade.
Religious Items and Offerings
Religious items such as oil, lamps, Ganga water, idols, incense sticks, and religious books are anticipated to add another Rs 20,000 crore to economic activities.
Transportation and Logistics
Transportation and logistics, encompassing local and interstate services, freight, and taxis, are expected to generate Rs 10,000 crore.
Tourism Services
Tourism services, including tour guides, travel packages, and related activities, are likely to contribute Rs 10,000 crore.
