Somvati amavasya in english - On the day of Somvati Amavasya, there is a law to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and keep a fast.

On this day, married women keep a fast and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and pray for the long life of their husband.

Amavasya Tithi is very important in the Sanatan tradition. If this Tithi falls on Monday or Saturday, then its importance increases even more.

When the Amavasya of any month falls on Monday, it is called Somvati Amavasya.

On the day of Somvati Amavasya, wake up early in the morning (also called Brahma Muhurta) and start the day by meditating on the gods and goddesses.

After this, take a bath. Although one should take a bath in the Ganga, but if one cannot do so, then add Ganga water to the water.

Now offer water to Lord Sun God.

While offering arghya, chant the mantra "Om Suryay Namah".

After this, worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. The worship mantras of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are given below, definitely chant them.

Milk, water, flowers, whole rice, sandalwood etc. are offered to the Peepal tree and the thread is wrapped around the tree 108 times and circumambulation is done.
If you are unable to tie the thread 108 times, then do it at least 11 times.
It is believed that Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva (also known as Trimurti or Tridev) reside in the Peepal tree.

Apart from this, there is a belief of mixing paddy, betel leaf and turmeric and offering it to the Tulsi tree with rituals.

After this, light a lamp in the evening as well. This brings happiness and prosperity in the house.

On the day of Somvati Amavasya, one should take a bath in the river before sunrise. By doing this, happiness and prosperity remains in life.
On this day, married women worship Bholenath for the long life of their husbands.
On this day, worship the Peepal tree and offer water. By doing this you will get the blessings of the Tridevas.
By performing tarpan and donations on the day of Somvati Amavasya, ancestors are pleased and their blessings are received.
Not only this, this day is also special for getting rid of Kaal Sarp Dosh. Food should be donated to the needy people on this day.
